We are a single human family that is journeying on toward unity, making the most of solidarity and dialogue among peoples. – Pope Francis
To cover the costs of due diligence, consultations with the grant recipient, bookkeeping, filing forms for the US government, and reporting to you, the Global Fund retains 15% of every donation. By way of comparison, most foreign aid organizations have overheads between 20% and 25%.
The following table shows how working with the Global Fund makes financial sense. It assumes that you are in the 30% marginal tax bracket and that you want to make a financial sacrifice of $1,000. Without Global, you send a $1,000 check to your favorite cause, and it costs you $1,000. With Global, you write a check for $1,429. The cause receives $1,215 and it ends up costing you only $1,000.
